sag or hessitation at full throttle

i have a 1987 iroc with a 305 tpi 5spd and it seems to hessitate at full throttle almost like it can not supply the fuel and then when i back off a little it seems to straitin out and act normal. Any ideas?

Fuel pressure guage rigged so you can see the indicator while driving, look for pressure falloff at WOT as the revs increase.

If you're going to work on it yourself, you'll need a scanner at some point. Handheld ones can be had cheap on eBay, or you can reuse an old laptop and buy/build an ALDL cable using info from the DIY-PROM forum.

When you get a scanner, record the spark advance and O2 sensor data to see what happens as the revs climb. You might see the knock sensor reporting knock, so the ECM yanks timing...or you might see the O2 sensor go lean.
