EGR question

Hypothetically. What would happen if EGR operation was disabled in the prom but the the EGR setup was left on the car and fully hooked up?

Thanks
John

Car: Formula, a big red brick.
Engine: A Ford 351 Windsor... ?
Transmission: Dodge 727
EGR wouldn't operate and the engine would act as a none EGR equiped manifold would... Except for early systems that didn't use computer input and ran on ported vac.

Do you think the egr could remain open all the time? That was one concern i had.

I doubt it. I think the ecu has to turn on the solinoid (sic?) to engage the EGR. < not sure though.
