TH350 trouble. Help!
Ok. I posted this this morning on the tranny board, but I need an answer soon. I was trying to fix where my transmission is leaking bad. It turned out to be leaking where the cable from the throttle on the carb goes into the transmission. I don't know the proper name for that cable. The bolt that holds the housing in is too small for some reason and wasn't holding it in tight. I couldn't get it to tighten down, so I took the bolt out to replace it with a bigger one, and the housing came off. The cable pulled out of the tranny also. I fought with it for an hour trying to get it back in, but no luck. I tried squeezing it with pliers th make it fit. Just as I was about to be able to get it in the housing, it snapped, and the cable whipped back INTO the transmission. Now, how do I get it back out?

That is the "detent cable". All it does is downshift when you floor it. It's not the same as a 700 TV cable, which is what that trans uses to tell what the engine load is.
IIRC you can get at those parts with the pan off; they kind of stick out of the corner of the valve body.

So, if I pull the tranny pan, I should be able to just push the cable back through and get it fixed without too much trouble. I guess I might as well change the filter while I have the pan off.
