I am having difficulty figuring out what distributor to get. I am not sure what type I should get. I am taking out a tbi and puting in a carb motor.

I have an 88 with a 305 and an edlebrock carb. It is not in the car yet. I also just bought a Mallory 6EZ spark box. so I want to get a distributor that will work with it. ( it says it will work with anything so compatability should not be a big deal)

The distributor I have is from and 82 monte carlo and it is really in poor shape.

I know the type I have will work but what I want to know is what type is best.

Do I want one with a vacume advance or one with a mechanical advance? or one that has both. I realy dont know much about how advance works so I don't know what I need. I have seen some that have electronic modules inside and some that have magnetic pickups in em! And when I look through the catologs there are so many types I have no clue as what to get.

I did price out buying new parts to rebuild the one I have and it would run me about a hundred bucks. So thats why I figure for a little more I could get a new one or if I knew what would work best maybee I could find a nice used one.

You'll want one with both.
