i need help!

my brother told me i cant delete my a/c because theres some substance that needs to be handled with care...and that a certified mechanic needs to take it out? is this true? i thought all i had to do was take the pulley off and get rid off all the hoses and etc...

Yes, it's true. The AC system contains refrigerant and oil under pressure that needs to be evacuated by a shop before working on it, that is, if there is still refrigerant in the system. It's illegal to vent refrigerant into the atmosphere.

It probably wasn't mentioned to you before because most of the time, when people decide to delete AC it's because they have had too many problems with it and the refrigerant has leaked out. Your AC system may or may not still have refrigerant and oil in it, but it definitely can't hurt to take it to a shop and have it evacuated before working on it.
