Well after chasing some problems thinking maybe fuel related and also maybe timing? I have a code 42...electronic spark circuit but with all the symptoms of a bad fuel pump. When about half throttle or more i get a popping sound from the tbi. Well i had just changed my spark plug wires and well....decided to drive without the air cleaner on so maybe i could see what was happening...not sure why and next thing i know pop and a fireball comes rushing out of the cowl towards my windshield. Hopefully I didnt melt my new wires Is this timing related or fuel related? PLEASE HELP ME...fire under the hood is not a good thing.....

 

Could be either timing or fuel...if it's not getting enough fuel when you tip the gas, backfire can happen. If the timing is way off, backfire can happen.

Whip out your timing light and run thru the procedure.
