Fuel sending unit install

I need to replace my fuel sending unit and I have never attempted this before. What's the best way to do this?

Get the car in the air, pull the bottom nuts off the shocks to lower the rear. Pull the springs out. Remove the gas filler cap, door and plastic housing.Disconnect all 3 fuel lines. Take the 2 15mm bolts off the gas tank straps and with a jack, lower the gas tank. Unplug the harness connector somewhere in there too. Once the tank is down, use a hammer and a punch to tap the lock ring around the sending unit loose. Pull the sender out.

DO NOT hack into the hatch area to get at it unless you plan on spending some significant time to do it properly... which I doubt you will. I think I've seen ONE done properly on this board.
