ARP Head Studs Torque Sequence??
here is the site for what they are:
http://www.hi-performance.com/CHP/ARPHeadStuds.htm
i was wondering if anyone could help me out how to use these? i dont wanna strip anything. do i just tighten them into the block til their snug? then put the head on, then put the nut on then torque them? i dont wanna put the stud too far so i crack the head or strip something.
also what is the torque sequence for SBC? i got a 350 with aluminum heads, not sure what information you need.

Just a heads up, are you sure you are going to be able to slide the heads on with studs? I wouldn't think so unless your engine bay is pretty much stripped.

i found this website, but im not sure to use 170, 190, or 220 or if this site is even for me?
i also found
http://members.tripod.com/torquespecs/hi_po_chev.htm
and it says for SBC V8 Aluminum Head with:
short stud -> 65lbs
long stuf -> 60lbs
and for an aluminum intake its 25lbs?
does this sound right? i just dont wanna ruin my motor in anyway id like to torque it right.

1. with studs you're NEVER NEVER NEVER going to tighten the stud in more then hand tight. if you cant screw them in all the way with your hand, take them out and clean the threads again.
2. if its in the car, you're going to have to put the gasket and head on the motor, then hand thread the studs in...
3. TQ specs are 100% dependant on the FASTENER. the bolt or the stud/nut.... doesnt matter if you have alum heads, iron heads, or what headgasket it is.

qood question, how would you clean the thread in the block? and as i was reading i should put w30 oil on them studs them put them in. put the gaskets then head on, then put in the studs, and turn them until you cant see thread anymore. then i torque them with the bolt on the top
but im not sure how tight i should torque them.
what do you mean dependant on the fastener, how can i tell that so i know how i should torque them??

any real reason you need studs or are you just wanting to make another leak source? i use a wire brush and cordless drill to clean internal threads, but a tap would work about as well. check with the stud maker for specs and how to info.

what kind of lube should i use with the studs?
studs are not good with heads?
and do you know what the post above meant, with the fastener about torquing.
