Hoods

I am about to get the car repainted and I was looking at replacing the stock hood with an aftermarket hood. I was looking at the SS style hood from ASPD, but I also see many cowl induction hoods out there. Is there any advantage of one hood to another, especially concidering induction system, cab, TPI, TBI etc..
Also whether or not the hood made any noticible power gains.

a lift off hood will take close to 75 pounds off the front end, or close to a tenth in et. the fresh air hood can add some preformance with the cooler air but i doubt you'd see a big differance between the two and the cowl ood ought to keep water out a little better.

i just ordered the big block hood (its taking forever from year one) and if i were to have the front opened so its functional (carb), what would be the downsides? water damage?
