fuel tank removal

heres the story, i have a 89 formula and i switched from tbi to carb wonderfull swap. now the fuel pump in the tank is clogged and i have to remove the tank and take out the pump. this is not a fun task,. take my word on this avod at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i took mine out and didn't think it was that bad ,i wondered why so many people gripe about it. not that i'd want to do it every day but i didn't think it was that bad.

I didnt think it was too bad either. I didnt have any exhaust in my way either. Just had to cut the filler neck to get the tank to slide out. When it goes back in, it will have some rubber hose on it. No problem.

That's why yours came out so easily. I was so tempted to cut the neck as well. The correct way to pull it is to rotate the tank while removing it so the filler neck will come out. I had the exhaust and rear out of the way while I did it.

I just pulled mine out last weekend. The rock guard was already removed. There's no exhaust back there and the panhard rod upper brace is removed.

It was still a pain. I had to move the jack stands to the front of the rear wheels to slide the tank out just because of the filler neck.

I'm installing a fuel cell in the back and needed to remove stuff that isn't required.

The fuel tank (without a TPI pump but with pickup and sender) weighs 25 pounds.
