Chaning the fuel pump isn;t as hard as everyone makes it out to be. Before I swapped in my first fuel pump I was scared based on the numerous posts here on TGO from people claiming it the devil. The hardest part would be removing the rear section of your exhaust. I have no idea how the rear components of the stock exhuast connect but if you have an aftermarket cat-back you should be able to just remove the muffler and tail pipe section. You can then lower the rear by removing the two lower shock mounts. Have a jack under the rear pumpkin though and then lower it after you unhook the shocks. This should give you enough clearance to drop the tank. You will then have to unhook four (I think?) lines from the tank on the driver side. There is one hard line and the rest just have clamps on them. These are easy to remove. You then need to remove the two bolts that hold in the straps. They are 9/16" bolts if I remember correctly. I find it helpfull to loosen and remove the fuel neck bolts around the gas filler neck. Take out the plastic housing so that you have a few inches of clearance to swivel the fuel neck around. The tank will then just drop out. Use a brass punch and a soft mallet to unscrew the locking ring and then just pull out the sending unit. Unplug the electrical lead to the pump and slide the pick up tube off of it. Installation is reverse of removal. You can install a new fuel pump in a few hours. If you have the stock exhaust it may take you a bit more because of any removal problems you may have. You may have to cut the exhaust and then re-weld/attach it afterwards.

I just have 2 small things to add. One, is to drain the tank before you remove it if you can. And two, take you time when you lower the fuel tank, because it's easy to catch the filler neck on something and accidentaly bend it. Go slow, but don't be afraid to twist and wiggle the fuel tank to get it out. It will come out.
