Wondering who makes a good set of "thin" copper head gaskets. Wondering if u guys had any recommendations. Thanks.

unless you plan on removing the heads alot i wouldn't bother, i'd run regular fel pro coated gaskets. milodon makes them for SBC around 70 dolalrs and .040 thick.

Using copper head gaskets requires o-ringing the block.

 

What do you mean by o-ringing the block?

 

machining a small groove around the block to accept a stainless steel wire o ring. the o ring cuts into the gasket to make a seal around the cylinder.

 

In a word, not for the street. That whole procedure is for maximum effort racing engines, running on other fuels besides gasoline, and with blowers and such. There's nothing to gain by using those on a street car. They also don't last through very many heat-cool cycles, so they require frequent replacement. Not a problem to the teams that tear down in between every round, but not appropriate to those of us who don't build a new motor every week using sponsors' money.
