When the car warm up it has low volts. And the alternator sounds like its working too hard. Its a 305 TBI.A/C,no extra radio stuff just factory. I replaced the alt with one from autozone a year ao, but it never really worked that good. I wantto get a bigger alt cause i'm planning on putting in a nie stereo system. What kind of alt do you guys recommend?

Sounds like you have a high resistance connection somewhere...fix that first and then look into an Iceberg rebuild kit from Summit or a new 140A alternator.

I had the same problem with a cheap rebuilt alternator. My lights would flare off idle..

I got a Duralast Gold and the problem went away.
