Smog Pump, AIR removal on TPI

I bought my first TPI car, it's an 88 305. I was considering removing the AIR and smog pump from it but was wondering what if any problems I would have after doing this. I was also going to put in a stage 2 hypertech chip, would this correct any problems that removing the other parts would create. Please only real answers and no crying about emmissions. Thanks a lot.

the real question is what do you think you'll be gaining from doing it?

Ede - always helps to answer a question with a question...

Sorch- No, the chip will not solve any problems created, the chips are designed to work on an unmodified vehicle (well sort of, they work fine with certain upgrades, but are not intended for a vehicle with emissions and other parts removed).

If you so desire, I would recommend doing it regardless. I will admit that I am not extremely knowledgeable on TPI, but I'm pretty sure that the removal of those parts will not throw any codes or cause any serious issues.

I do have personal experience with hypertech stage II chips however and in my case it definitely made a significant difference.

Jordan

Check out the stickies in the exhaust board. Some TPI set-ups are sensitive to AIR removal.
