Starting with a shortblock

What all would I need to get buy to build the rest of the engine. I know the most of it (Heads, cam, intake, carb(or whatever ones uses), pushrods, lifters, flywheel, cam and crank gears, timing chain,
I am looking at buying the ZZ4 shortblock and building on it (or just building up the 305) but money is an issue. I am just worried about buying a shrtblock, then when I get it together it blows up because I forgot a bolt or some small componet I never existed was not installed.

A shortblock will include lifters, cam, and timing set.

You could include an aftermarket roller timing chain, but that requires removing the factory bottom gear and relacing it with a roller gear.

You will need an oil pump and pickup, oil pump drive.

Pickup location and oilpump drive are important but it is difficult to mess these up.

A good safety check is to primp the oil pump befor you put the motor in the car. Any lame mistakes will normally show up then.

Just go step by step. And pop to this board when you get stuck or have concerns.
Start looking on ebay for intake and maybe a set of heads.
