RPM's stuck at 2.5K???

What is the deal with this? I did a power brake the other day, and the RPM;s stayed at 2,500 for about 5 seconds, then shot up... is there something wrong with my motor? Also the motor has 113K original miles on it, the thing is dead slow, 0-60 in 8 seconds? Is that what they should do?

My 89 RS with the 2.8 V-6 has done the same thing. Both while power braking and with just driving. I got rid of the problem for the most part by replacing the TPS, IAC, and PCV valve. It drove great for about two or three weeks. No longer puttered, had more power back in it, wasn't stalling or dieseling, and wasn't getting stuck idling at 2,000 any more. But no once again it's doing it. I know I still need to replace the EGR valve and it's sensor or sending unit and I want to replace the O2 sensor with it, as this is a fuel injected car. Otherwise I can't figure out why it's doing it again. Did oil change, air filters, fuel filter, plugs, wires and cap and rotor on the distributor already to. After these last two parts to change, I'll be clueless as to what to do next. There's a chance it could be something simple. Anyone out there have any ideas on this??? Need help here.

Didn't mean to step on your thread, man. Just got a similar problem I thought I had fixed. One of the remedies I tried might work for you though.
