Starting problem
Ok, I have an 89 camaro with a tbi 305 and automatic tranny. When i drive for over 10 minutes and turn it off to go in to a store or something it wont start when I come back out. Usually if I wait a while like 2 or 3 hours it will start. Or if I get a jump start, as soon a the wires make contact it will start, it doesnt even need to charge. I replaced the battery and that fixed it for about a week and now it does it again. I dont know if it has something to do with the car being hot and having to cool down. But I have heard about a bad wire in the back of the alternator that is common in this year that may be causing the problem. The car will not even turn over. The battery cables are also new. Help me out, school starts soon and i gotta figure this out or I'm walkin.

I never had that problem myself, but a friend of mine (with an '89, by the way) experienced issues with restarting the car after the engine had warmed up. He did a good bit of research and discovered that if the starter gets too hot (from exhaust manifold heat, for example), it may prevent the car from starting until allowed to cool down.
As for fixes, heat shielding might be your best bet. I'll direct him to this thread.

It couls also be a bad coil.. (mine happened to be the coil in cap OEM type) . I had the same type of problem, and replaced my ignition and made sure that everything was shield from heat like it should be.. and last thing obviously that i did was replace that coil.. Found out it was cracked when we took it out.. so when it would heat up very fast and cause the stupid problem of not being able to start the car.
