Smoke at WOT

Yes, I've read all the articles on this but wasn't happy with the answers and just plain want to annoy everyone with a repeated question.

Changed the plugs about a month ago - cylinders 2 and 7 were gunked right up. Some crap had pretty much completely closed the gap. The other 6 looked perfect.

Changed the carb - finally, after my Qjet frustrated the hell out of me, went to an Edelbrock 1406. It seemed to cure the migraine that has lasted me a number of years that started with an uncooperative idle. Perfect.

Noticed that at wide open throttle it looks like I'm dragging a burning bush behind my car. At first, I thought I had hit some dust on the road that blew up in a puff since I couldn't get it to happen again. Just this past week, I've been able to do it on a regular basis when I put it all the way to the floor.

Engine was rebuilt about 7 years ago, maybe 30,000 miles on it since. It was my first big rebuild, so it's definitely not perfect. I'll get around to the compression test later - I'm leaving the country for a few months, so this is a spring project. I just hope a few of you will weigh in with your thoughts. Seals and rings, right?

Hmmm, My car was doing the same thing but only when i ran it straight off the headers. Then again it should smoke all the time being 30 years old without a ringle thing done to it

I would say rings have bit the dust.

Is it Blue or black smoke?

It looks white - but I'm not losing any coolant at all. Oil is another story, although I've never been able to tell how much is burning and how much is leaking.
