I recently put 2055 headers on my 84 LG4 along with a gear change from 308 to 327. In your professional or non professional opions will this equate in better, poorer or equal performance. Let have some fun with this question since gas pricing is one of our primary concerns due to the N ew Orleans tragedy.

In my experience, I have not seen any change in milage w/gear changes....or any other parts changes, on HIGHWAY driving.
My old TA (CFI, 305 auto and 3.23 gear) got 24 mpg consistently on road trips.
When I sold the car, it had a junkyard 400 w/a 224/234 cam, headers, ported CFI w/bigger injectors etc. a T-5 trans and 3.45 rear gear. It got 24 mpg consistently on road trips. Around town it got about 17 w/the stock combo and 14 w/the 400.
I think the mpg is affected in order of impact by:
1. The way YOU DRIVE
2. state of tune
3. combo of parts.
