Question about Smoke when starting the car

Aloha everyone!! I've been having mysterious smoke problems for the past 6 months and I cant figgure it out. The engine is a 305 TBI in a 1989 RS (yeah not much for speed, but it gets me from point A to B) One of the rings went bad @ 70,000 miles and the engine was rebuilt (by the dealer!! haha). Engine worked good untill about 105,000 miles. Smoke started to come out of the engine when i started it. Not alot of smoke, just a little at first. And it only comes out when I start the car, not after its been warmed up. The smoke is white with a small bluish tinge (not black smoke). checked the oil and didnt see any water so I'm pretty sure the head didnt blow. did a compression check and it was all good (not all perfect but within 15). So I thought maybe it was just carbon buildup (saw that infomercial and thought what the heck). Tried the instant carbon buildup remover and still had smoke (actually alot more now!). Now its been about 4 months and its getting worse and worse. I'm ashamed to start my car cuz its somewhat loud and when people look all they see is smoke from the tailpipes. Does anyone in here have any ideas of what could be causing the smoke?

thanks much for any help!

Valve seals are probably wearing out and letting some oil get into the combustion chambers, no big deal. You can change them if it really bothers you.

It's not a major event at all. I think a set of valve seals costs less than 10 bucks at a parts store.

EVERY thirdgen Camaro or Firebird does that puff of smoke at some point, usually right around 100,000 miles.

If you are going to do this yourself, definitely get a repair manual for the car, if you don't have it already.

I'm not sure how much you need to take apart to get at the valve seals. I had them redone when I blew a head gasket, and I just brought the heads into the shop for repair.
