Fuel Pump Removal? Easy Question
Fuel Pump Removal? Easy Question
Hello. I am doing some replacement of parts on my 1985 Z28 Iroc, Carb TPI, and I can not seem to find my fuel pump. I know it's on block, but not sure where. I have the replacemnt, just need to know where the old one is. Anyone have directions as per removal? A diagram or good explanation would be most helpful.

Bottom right corner of the block, on the side at the very front.
Remove threaded fuel line fitting from pump with a tubing nut wrench (a regular open end is likely to waste it); disconnect and plug the 2 rubber lines from the pump; remove the 2 bolts holding the pump on; clean gasket surface; installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure as you put the new pump in that the finger that sticks into the block goes up underneath the rod, not jammed up against it, which has a tendency to slide down as far as it can. The rod is a round piece of metal about ½" diameter.

which is it? carb or TPI?
if it is carb then yes it is on the front passenger side of the block, if it is TPI then it is in the gas tank

that little pushrod is a pain; it will usually move its way down to the adapter plate and then you'll have to pull the plate off again in order to put the pump in correctly. this problem is solved by coating the rod in a heavy grease like white grease.
