I don't get it?

What's wrong with your stock "OEM" carburetor?

For winter friendliness, go to the parts store and buy a block heater. KAT's (or something like that) makes a nice one that will go in a core plug ("freeze plug") and it works great!

Yeah what he said, lol. There are no 'performace' replacements for the factory e-quad. The holley replacement version is garbage from everything i've gathered, i'd rather just work with the stock carb.
As for winter friendliness, a block heater is a good idea, but don't over look the basics of setting the choke. I started to type out instructions, but hit the classic point where i decided it's an art rather than something that can be spelled out. Just do asearch on setting the choke, and if you're having specific problems post on the carb board and i;ll try to help (though i do get there infrequently these days)

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die

Just modify the stock qjet. It's not that hard (even a 'tard like me can handle it ).
