hey i tried to look it up on the internet, and on this site, and didnt get much help.

i have a '72 350 4 bolt main with trick flow aluminum twisted wedge heads, and an edelbrock aluminum torker intake

what should i torque the heads to? and the intake?

also im using APR head studs

could i get a diagram of which sequence the studs should be tightened, and to which ft lbs.

also for the intake

please dont flame or write anything stupid, help would be greatly appreciated.

Contact ARP for the correct torque.

For the intake, start in the center, and work your way out.

11 7 3 2 6 10

12 8 4 1 5 9

Those #'s represent the order to torque the bolts looking down from the top of the intake. Usually 25-30 ft-lbs.

 

Actually, it's a little different than that.

Sequence

12.....11......4......1......5......6


10......9.......3......2......7......8

 

lo-tec was that sequence for the heads for aluminum or cast iron ones??

i heard different versions

60ft lbs for aluminum and 65ft lbs for cast iron

 

ok so i call ARP and they said 65ft lbs with sbc and aluminum heads.

now im using just regular bolts for the intake, which of those 2 sequences above is right?

 

The sequence AJ_92RS posted is correct. Sorry for the misinformation, tried to remember it instead of looking in a book.

thanks, i got one head on, what a bitch.

the guidplates where the rocker studs are, what do they have to be torqued down to? i had to loosen one a little to torque a head stud, and i just tightened back up pretty good to, but im pretty sure it has to be torqued.

 

For aluminum heads, torque them to 65ft-lbs in 3 even steps. I usually go 20-43ish-65. Haven't had a problem yet. This was also with ARP head bolts
