Ses light but no codes?

Ses light but no codes?
On my '85 the ses light comes on after about 1 min of running. I did the paper clip thing and I just get code 12 over and over which means there is no codes right? So why is the light comeing on? shouldn't it have a code stored?

I figured it out.. Just didn't wait long enough.. after about 3 or 4 12's I got my real errors... 15 (coolant temp) I found a wire disconnected FIXED! 41 (EST? distrib) from disconnecting for timing? and 24 VSS? its an '85 with a manual speedo cable, where is the VSS on these?

The VSS is on the back of the speedometer head.
