TB Cable not aligning...???

Car: '76 Vette
Engine: '95 LT1
Transmission: '95 4L60e
TB Cable not aligning...???
Got a '76 Vette w/ a '95 LT1 and using an F-body Throttle Cable (don't have Cruise or Traction Control), but it comes "off-the-track" whenever I get on it a bit.
How can I keep this from happening? There are no adjustments that can be made at the TB, bracket, or cable...
The Vette uses this very awkward "ASR" unit w/ gears and pulleys, but that's for Cruise and Traction, which I don't have.
