How can I make a High-Emission Vehicle Legal on the street?

Say I have an 88-89 Thirdgen with a 350 Carbed with all the emissions crap removed. I am pretty positive that it would not pass emissions in its current state, but is there a way that I can get some kind of special registration which would eliminate Emissions testing for me???

BTW I live in NJ where the emissions are strict but not too strict.

I really really doubt you could get a waiver to let you slide past emissions.

(However, some states will give you a waiver for one year if you show that you've spent X amount of money trying to get your car fixed.)

Sometimes I've considered replacing the intermediate pipe with 4 or 5 cats, that should put a hurting on the emissions. heh. I don't know what else it would do, but it seems like it would create a lot of backpressure.

nobody has a muffler were I live, but thats because they don't have any thing to do with emissions, mufflers just muffle the sound and restrict flow. I know a lot of people that don't have cats on, If I knew that my county wasn't have emissions for 50 years I'd yank all my esmissons stuff tonight. at least I can put a new cat on in a afternoon.

And those waivers are void if the emissions equipment have been tampered with or removed.
