i had a pretty good leak at my header collector that i hadnt bothered fixing until yesterday, it had been like that for 2 or 3 weeks. the whole time i drove around with my car ticking thinking it was just the exhaust leak, sounds pretty much the same.
my distributor bolt i dont think is tightened all the way because my distributor always slowly moves and i have to set my timing all the time. my timing light from summit (junk) broke a few weeks ago so i had just been doing it by ear. i sent that in today so i should have a new light in a week or so.
i always run 93 octane but obviously that isnt good for the motor, how bad is it? i just replaced my plugs, pcv valve and oxygen sensor yesterday, the plugs were pretty brown. today i backed off the timing a bit and the ticking got a LOT quieter, which is when i said oh #$@!.
are there any tricks to getting a car timed right without a light until iget it back?
