Plug wire routing

Ok, I'm going to try to ask this again. Is there any reason I can't run my plug wires over my valve covers when I install my TES headers next week? I bought some MSD universal 8.5 mm wires to route them anywhere I want...or need.

Yeah... the drivers side should be ok, but your gonna have problems with the passenger side... read on as Ill try to explain this as best as possible.

Heres what I did and it seemed to work for me on both of my cars and a few of my friends aswell.

There isnt enough clearance between the heads/hedders to safely run the wires on the 2 rear passenger side cylinders... if ya do, youll burn em up like i did.

1. Start off with the 2 longest ANGLED boot wires... take em out and set em aside.
2. Put on the rest of the wires on all but the back 2 cylinders on the passenger side... as these are reserved for the 2 longest angled boot wires you allready set aside.
3. Now, take the 2 wires you set aside before, and put them on the back 2 cylinders. I like to run them towards the FRONT of the engine, meeting the front 2
wires. Use a 4 wire loom where the 2 wires coming from the back meet the front 2 wires.

Running the 2 back wires UNER the headders towards the front 2 can greatly reduce the chance of smokin' a wire.

Heres a hint to install the hedders if ya dont already know:
1: Unbolt the AC compressor, leave all the hoses CONNECTED, and take it outa the bracket and move it outa the way as much and as safely as you can. The hedders will drop right in.

Drivers side:
Remove the alternator, and remove the hard fuel lines the run behind the alternator and into the fuel rail. They'll drop right in there too!

Thats it... I kinda wish I knew this before I put my first set of headders in... but hell i learned the hard way!

Good luck man!

I had the same problem with the #6 and #8 wires as well. What I did was route them over the heater core hoses and thru the looms, they stay about an inch from the headers. I would definately invest in some looms, in the past I tried it without looms and burnt 3 wires. Not too mention riding around with the motor running like crap not knowing what the problem was.
