ThirgGen.org online store?

Hey guys I was at Kyfbodies.org and they have an online store which sells T-shirts, Sweatshirts, Longsleeve T-shirts,Mugs and Mousepads which have their logo on them. I saw at the top of the page "Powered by Cafepress click to open your own store" I clicked on the link and we could have our own stuff with our own logo! That is so cool! Could we do this? Sorry, I'm ThirdGen.org proud! Here's a pic of their MousePad

I have considered using Cafepress.com in the past, but I don't know if they are any good. Has anyone seen the quality of their products? If they just print the art out onto one of those iron on printer paper things and then iron it onto a shirt, that'll really suck

Here is their base price list for their products:
----
12 ounce Mug- $10.99
15 ounce Large Mug -$11.99
100% cotton, white Hanes® Beefy-T-Shirt - $13.99
100% cotton, ash grey Hanes® Beefy-T-Shirt - $14.99
100% cotton, long sleeved Hanes® T-shirt - $18.99
100% cotton, Anvil® Women's Baby-doll T-shirt - $16.99
50/50 heavyweight, Hanes® Sweatshirt - $20.99
Mouse pad - $10.99
----

Say we charge 20 per shirt. That's $14 that they get and $6 that we get. Then you tack on almost $5 for shipping and handling... now you are paying $25 for a shirt. $19 of that $25 goes to someone else. Don't know if that's reasonable or not.

And they don't offer license plate frames

Yea I wish I had a license plate frame or a license plate but hey I'd still buy the other stuff and I'd pay alittle extra stuff though. I mean I don't mind spending more money to get what I want. And they are adding more stuff like:
Tank Tops (Men's and Women's)
Baseball Hats
Aprons
Tote bags
and more to come
or that's what they say on their website under the Help Page. So maybe the License Plate Frames are coming. As far as the quality of the products go they say "Q: What is the printing process used on the t-shirts?
A: We use a dye sublimation printing process for mugs and mousepads and digital transfers for all apparel. These processes are similar in quality to screen printing, with no image cracking, peeling or fading.
Heres the link:
http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/hel...q.aspx#process

I think this would be Awesome Dirk and you could make alittle money If you need more info you can contact them at mailto:service@cafepress.com

Plus they have a 30-day Satisfaction Guarentee!

I have bought a few t-shirts from Cafepress, the quality is not bad at all. What it really depends on is the logo. It has to be easilly readable, otherwise, it sux.

I would be willing to spend a couple extra bucks for a t-shirt that I wanted. Thats the kind of thing that I would wear to the shop or the drags. Dirk, what kind of logo do you think you would want to use? I am sure someone here could whip something cool up on photoshop.

Dirk, I have been thinking of doing the same thing from the same place for my site www.TransAmGTA.com and I figured that even though the majority of the money is going to someone else atleast we get some of it that will help support the site that much more. more important than that though, is our site is being promoted by whoever buys it!

Hey Dirk, I just signed up to go ahead and do it for www.TransAmGTA.com

Now it's your turn

Dirk, if you need a logo, email me. My mother-in-law has been a professional graphic designer for years, she might even do it for free because she see's it as fun....

What you really need to do is find a place that will print the logo on shirts that YOU provide! Then buy up a large quantity of shirts at a discounted price, have the logos printed, bump the price up when you sell them and sit back and collect some serious money!

But think about the cafepress thing! If they're printing the logos on the shirts then they are doing all the work and you're just sitting back and collecting $6 PROFIT PER SHIRT! Say you sell 50 shirts! You just made $300 w/out sinking in a penny of your money! Personally, if I had the choice to make, I'd do it!

Oh yeah, I'd like to get a racing paint job done on my car with Thirdgen.org logos all over it! That would be f*cking awesome! I might look into doing something like that when I get some cash!!

I agree- we should do this. Even if the profit is only a few hundred bucks, at least there would be a bunch of people wearing Thirdgen.org shirts out at car shows and drag strips. That would promote more interest in the site. Hey- maybe the front side says Thirdgen.org and the backside says Thirdgenparts.com/Spohn Performance/GT Auto Accessories. Having sponsors would be win-win. They get advertisement, we get cheaper shirts.

I like Firebird383's idea, have the sponsers on the shirt too and that could reduce the cost of the shirt.

I also agree with Firebird 383 and nestz28
that it would be a cool idea to have the sponsers on the shirts. Let's keep the posts coming. Thanks guys for helping. Maybe together can make this happen.

Large crowd chanting "SHIRT, SHIRT, SHIRT". I'd buy two or three just so I could wear them all week long. Hell ya! Thirdgen shirt, Thirdgen shirt. Get a picture of both the cars on there too, kinda like the logo for the message boards. Money is no object(who am I kidding). I'll pay 30-35 for one, or two, or more.

do it dirk!,you could make some cash and promote this site big time.i think the logo would be nice on the front with a t/a and a camaro on the back, that would be sweet.you could take your logo and whatnot to a t-shirt place and make a deal to buy a bundle, if your strapped for cash then have people send you money in advance and then go to them with your pockets bulging and buy a bunch and then your cost might be $10 a shirt.

You know what guys? I've got about three dresser drawers of T-shirts and I only wear a handful of 'em. A third-gen shirt would be COOL! In the words of Roscoe P. Coltraine "I love it! I love it!"

I agree that the picture or graphic should be of a camaro and firebird. Getting the sponsors on the back would also be a good thing, if they're willing. Would there be any kind of trademark infringement trouble or anything like that?

Maybe members of this site can submit renderings of the shirts. And we can all vote on the one that we like the most. Democracy in action.

Getting the printing done by a local print shop would most likely save on production costs. You wouldn't have to pay the shipping of that bulk package(if shirts were ordered from a place far-far away).

This whole thing takes me back to my high school economics course, where we did the same thing: designing, production, marketing, etc. of T-shirts.

Hello John,

I have already seen that other post I haven't responded to it yet
though. I want to see what other people's thoughts are first. I have been
trying to follow both the threads but time constraints and other stuff make
it hard for me to post a lot But I am reading what other people are
saying. I did go and create a cafepress.com account the other night when I
read your post and Brad is working on a T-Shirt design right now. Actually,
more than one design So, even though I may not be replying to all the
posts, know that I AM reading them and am going forward with at least the
t-shirt idea for now

Thanks!

I'd go for a shirt, too... and definately a coffee mug. I go through enough of that in the garage to need a mug in there! Too bad about the license plates... one would've looked good in the garage.

I'd put out a bit more cash to keep a quality site like this running for sure... It all works out in the long run, the site makes money... We get more articles pictures movies and all of that good stuff we have come to love.

Count me in for an overpriced t-shirt mug mousepad im game

Didn't this whole thread arise about a year ago, too?

I'd settle for one of the window clings that was being discussed back then, but I know Dirk has his hands full of a lot of other things that are more important than selling promotional items.

WE WANT SHIRTS (and stuff)!!!! WE WANT SHIRTS (and stuff)!!!! I would buy at least 2 (or maybe 10) and have them put in a picture frame. One showing back and other front, and hang them in my shop. Right next to Debbe Dunning!!!

Dirk, next time I'm on my computer I'll dig up a couple links and send them to you. I found a place that would silk screen multi color logos onto shirts and the price wound up at somewhere around $11 or $12 a shirt, plus a 1 time cost for making the silk screen. If you're going to be doing a bunch of shirts, this will give you the opportunity to get good silk screened shirts at a reasonable cost. The same place also does embroidery and that sort of thing. I've been meaning to get some embroidered polo shirts made for the IROC Homepage, but I've been too busy trying to make my car run.

I know that I am not a member, but I have been a graphic artist for many years, just let me know if you wanna have a logo. I love this site, and won't charge a thing. Just let me know.

People start posting some logos and uhhhh.... slogans so we can start voting on an idea. This way if Dirk decides to do this we could decide what the final product would look like.

I would put the Thirdgen.org logo on the front-change the color of the camaro to blue, the firebird to yellow, and the lettering to red for visual appeal (If you change the color do it to the site logos as well) and sell logo space on the back to the vendors whose products/services we purchase. Your local screenprinting house is probably the cheapest way to go with great quality, they can provide samples and design/modify the artwork. I would also like to see a large decal so I can mount it on a magnetic sheet to put on my car while autocrossing and attending car shows! This would be the least expensive way to manufacture and sell shirts,a win-win-win situation for the site, vendors, and us thirdgen buffs!

I think that there would be a good market for this type of stuff. There is already a huge base of members to this board.

In fact I've been looking for a 3rd gen camaro coffee cup to use at work!!!

Yeah, sounds a little rice-boy to me. I'd wear a shirt though, or maybe some boxers ... chicks dig cars.

Use it to show pride in the cars.
