Shaft is busted on my distributor so i need to buy a new one, Just not sure what gear material i need for it. Is an iron gear ok?

A stock gear is fine.

How do you break a distributor shaft, anyway?

Not sure really, it was in a motor that i bought. It probably happened during shipping is my guess.
