Where are you getting your pumps from...if from O[Reilley's, that is you problem, their reman supplier is the worst ever.
Go to either the dealer or Napa and be done-yes it will cost more, but it's a one time purchase.

In a nutshell, you have to pull the existing in tank pump out, pull the pump off and make some kind of line extensions so you can pick up fuel from the bottom of the tank.
You'd then have to mount a new high pressure pump somewhere and run new line from tanks tap into the new fuel pump, and then the the outlet side of the new pump into the existing feed line to the engine bay.
I'm not upto snuff on the factory regulators as to weather you can use you existing to control pressure, or if you have to get a new high pressure regualtor that you can adjust.
Running the new fuel line would be the worst part of the deal, but after that it'd be extremely easy to replace in the future should it go out again.
Are you sure it's your fuel pump and maybe not a relay going south on ya? Relays have been known to work intermittedly and do some crazy things when going bad. What about your oil pressure sensor, if the sensor goes bad it may show the computer a low psi reading forcing the computer to shut down the fuel pump.

I personally do know where it's located...not much of a EFI guy
might hit the electrical board with the ?, maybe somebody will chime in here, or best bet is to just get a Hayes or Chilton manual for the car since it's nice to have them anyways for reference.
