torque converter question..

ok so I should have the engine out within the next two weeks for the rebuild.. which I still haven't figured out which heads/intake/cam to go with.. but my next thing is do I leave the stock torque converter or go with a higher stall?

I would buy a bigger stall, but you need to figure out what heads,cam,etc...What the cams power band is.Are you going to race it or drive it on the street or both?If you drive it on the street a lot,I wouldn't go with a big stall,it will generate to much heat in the trans. and motor.Naturally aspirated or power adder?

Try asking this in the tranny board, but the above info. is right on. I think it's that you peak a stall 500 rpms belowe your peak Torque.

yes it will be a daily driver.. but I would like to be able to go to the "cruise nite" at the drag strip once in a while.. but like what was said above I don't wan't to go with too high of a stall if it's going to create heat buil up leading to transmission problems.. I just had the tranny rebuild about 1 year ago.

Just be sure to get a tranny cooler.
