Max HP for stock TPI block

I'm the process of adding a turbo to my 3rd gen. I want to build it so I can run 600-900HP. If I rebuild the engine with forged crank & rods will the stock block hold up?

What is the max HP one can reliably run on a TPI block?

Drill out for 4-bolt mains and you'll be fine. The block is not the weak point in the motor you want to build. The bottem end is, but you seem to have that covered. So you'll be fine...even though for a turbo it's probably too much (but...can you have too much ).

If you can still get the November issue of Engine Masters from the parts store, you will find alot of info on GM stock TPIs and blown tpis.

some of them came from GM with pretty thin walls. I'd have it sonic tested while its apart just to be on the safe side especially running boost. Saw one a month or so ago that was too thin to take a .040" bore.

I wouldn't worry about the block much untill you get rid of the TPI setup, unless you stick laughing gas or a hairdryer on it.

TPI alone just cannot make more than roughly 300hp, because its just too retrictive. The engine can't breathe.

I currently run a superram and see my sign for the rest.

I'm going to need to rebuild with a forged bottom end and drop the compression some. Just trying to decide if I can reuse my stock block or if I have to wait a little longer and get a dart/world block.
