loud noise

I've noticed this noise before, it happens once in a while mostly when I hit the gas hard but it really became obvious today when I didnt have a lot of time to warm up my car cuz I was late to work, it made this loud knocking poping sound when I pressed the gas, like the sound of a backfire but coming from the engine I have a turbo hood completly vented so I heard it pretty good, actually I kinda think I felt it too, but anyway iam pretty sure its my timing just wanna see if you guy have anyother ideas as to anything else it might be. Thanks

So was it a knock or pop??

Knock i would say possibly a lifter or bearing. pop i would say maybe a slight backfire, choke still full on and you goosed it or just too much advance for the cold engine.

Hmmm let me give you more detail as to what the sound was like, kinda like an extremly small person was inside the block and hit it with a blunt object BUT there wasnt a echoing diinnnnnngggggg like a bell, it was more like the way a backfire has a slight popping echo to it, and there was also a hint of hollowness (if you could imagine) , I guess what iam trying to say is that it sounded like a backfire but there was deffinantly some type of contact between parts internally. hope iam not confusing you guys just wanna make sure you know what iam talking about the sound is very distinct, couldnt get it outta my head all day.
