what can be causing vibration?

I have a vibration at 3,200 - about 4,000 rpm. my mechaniac said it is comming from the rear of the car. I got this vibration from accidently putting the car in 2nd at about 80 mph. the vibration seems to be comming from the drive shaft and i can feel it a lil in the clutch. what can be causeing this. from how he described it "he has to take things apart to actually find out where it is comming from". i hope its not to bad but he is not doing this till next week on monday. so anyone have similar problems or might know what it is that is causeing this vibration?

So the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" wasn't refering to something like this.

He's probably right. It could be any number of things, the only way to find out for sure is to get in there are look. The fact that it happens at a given RPM is kind of wierd since it is a stick...

Stupid questios, but are you sure it isn't the engine bogging down or something?
