Can I change a externaly mounted fuel pump gastank too having one internally mounted.The reason that I ask this is I desperatly need a new tank,first it leaks and the filler neck got bent by the last owner"they left the gas station with the pump still in" ,cant keep the tank above 1/4 full or gas comes out of the filler neck.My car is a 85 2.8 mpfi, the donor tank came from an 82-84 Z28.It has two connectors to go the the fuel gauge.The one in my car has 3. Any help would be appreaciated.

 

That's a tough question. I would see if I could find a wiring diagram for each car and see what the difference is between the two. Then fabricate whatever wiring you need.

Why not just swap your sending unit/fuel pick up assembly onto the new tank and remove the other when you do the "R 'n R"
The tanks should be the same otherwise.
