a few questions
I have an 84 firebird 305 with a stock auto. Last year i started having problems with the ignition and i kept replacing module until i just a bought another system from the junkyard and i stop having the problems. Over last winter the car over heated on really cold days because i had to more water in there then anything else. Finally i replace the water with proper antifreeze and the problem stop. Before the begginning of summer i had lost of power issues and finally the car would start but it wouldnt rev over 2k. I ran compression tests and the 1,2,3 and 5 i believe came back with somewhere around 35-50. before i junk the engine is there anything else i should try before i just ripped the thing out?
Thanks

i say during that winter you probably froze up and cracked the head or block and that caused the car to over heat. Are you getting water in oil? or oil in the water?

I tend to agree with the above statement.
But just because I dont like the "throw it away cuz it's probably broke" thing... you had ought to tear it all down. If you are lucky, you just cracked a head, which is good enough reason (for me atleast?) to go to the junkyard grab a set of 416's, and have them ported and polished and slapped on a new set.
