tuning questions
ok, so while trying to tune my car (86 SC lg4 quadrajet) i've apparently overlooked a few things
1) nasty bogs - when cold, it dies, when warm, i still get 1 to 2 second bogs
i've replaced the coolant temp sensor, and tried adjusting my secondaries to no avail - sometimes it catches and zooms off, but more often than not, i can't even get it to spin a tire anymore, unless power brakeing
2)Ticking noise at around 1000 rpm in overdrive - it only occurs when slightly pressing on the gas pedal - loudness of ticking is proportional to amount of pressure put on pedal; to a certain extent- then it goes away - my first impressing is maybe the timing chain is slapping something, as i have 180k, and still the original one, otherwise i dunno
(it's not a pinging or detonating sound - seems to come from the frontish, undersideish) - also notice in this same rpm range the car sometimes stumbles like it is missing
3)this last one is just a thought - possibly i need a new fuel pump - i have no tool for checking pressure and what not, but i do have a clear filter - when left to sit for a while, the filter is empty, and when finally cranked, it spurts the gas in, but it doesn't completely fill up until you get it in the higher rpms (2k and above for a little bit) like driving to the corner store or something - i noticed that if you stomp on the gas pedal when first cranked, you can here the secondaries open up, but there is an infintesimle bog where it stays at 1000 rpm
so what are you guys' thoughts?

Sounds to me like you need a carb rebuild.
The bog could be due to a number of things
As for the ticking, well that you could be an exhaust leak. When you said it gets louder with more throttle- that hints at an exhaust leak. Check around your manifold/header gasket to see for leaks.
------------------
86 Iroc, 355 ci, Dart II heads, holley 750, Victor Jr., Hooker super comp headers, 4.10 rearend, MSD 6A, roller valve train, high stall converter, true dual flowmaster exhaust, NOS- 150 shot.

how hard is it to rebuild yourself? i've never done it before, and i hear it's not something to take lightly - i've got a friend that has rebuilt a carb before, but not sure if it was the qudrajet or if it was a 4 barrel
- also on the ticking from exhaust leak - how does that exhaust leaking make such a strange noise? and suppose i do fing a leak, how di i fix? jbweld?
