Oil Pressure sending unit problem

About a month ago I was having problems with my oil pressure, I kept reading low. First thing I did was jack up the car and check the sending unit. when I unpluged the connector from it I noticed that oil was leaking from the back of it where the plug slides in, so I replaced it. Now I have a new sending unit in and it's leaking again from the plug connection. Is this a normal thing, it doesn't seem like it would be.

might help if you said what kind of car/engine combo. there is a sender by the distributor and above the oil filter on a SBC in third gens.

it's a 91' camaro 305 TBI. I'm refering to the oil pressure sending unit located on the side of the oil filter mount.

I think that's the oil pressure switch, if it's down there. You have an idiot light right? not a guage?

switch, sensor, whatever it's what sends the signal as to how much oil pressure there is. And no I have an actual pressure gauge.
My question was is oil suppose to be leaking from the back where the plug slides in? It's not a bad leak but you can see that there is oil coming out where the plug is.

If it's leaking, it's bad.Replace it.I've seen 'em leak like that, but usually are not accurate when they're leaky.Mine used to show about half of what my mechanical gauge read, and sometimes it would be close to actual.Seemed really random, but after replacing it, accuracy was better and leaking stopped.Still, I rely on mechanical gauges now for water temp and oil press.
