Powerbulge / Cowl Hood Filter??

What up guys I have a 82 T/A with the power bulge cowl hood, is there something that supposed to filter the cold air from the hood,or is there some sort of filter in the hood? As it sits right now there is no filter just the opening in the top of the air cleaner that connects to the hood with the rubber seal. It sounds nice when it sucks but am worried about dirt, and stuff getting in there. I tried every auto store, and cant find any fiter that will fit the hole.Is it supposed to be that way without a filter?

Thanx

On the air cleaner lid there should be a second plate inside that is attached to it and sits on the filter. It forces the air through the sme filter as the rest of the air comes in through. There is no filter in the power bulge scoop.
