Roller????

Well i am going to be building a sbc 383 sbc, and wanted to now if i should go soild rocker, or roller rocker? Is there a difference? I would like to now because i see lots of guys out there with roller. -Eric

you're confused. solid roller CAM or flat tappet cam right? That's what you're asking ? re: the cam?

Your choices are:

1- hydraulic flat tappet
2 - solid flat tappet
3 - hydraulic roller
4 - solid roller

#1 is the standard, the norm, before 1987 or so. #3 was the std after that. The solid stuff is basically race only, as you have to re-adjust it periodically, and most people don't want to do that. Solid revs higher though. Roller stuff (solid and hydro) can have more lift for a given duration, due to the rolling action. That gives more power. for a price, a big one. Big $.

rockers are either "normal" or roller tip, or full body roller, and are completely independant of the cam. (i'd go roller tip if it were me).
