RPO code mysteries...
RPO code mysteries...
I have an 89 IROC-Z, finally! Yay! Its been 6 months but I finally got my dream car! I'm so very happy!
I was looking at my RPO codes, and theres a few that aren't recognized... E7Z, A9D, 1AZ, 92P, 1SZ. They don't come up, one code I'm not sure about because they letter/digit is unreadable. In A9D, I guessed it was D, but can't tell, but A9 is correct. I looked up 1SZ, in the thirdgen database but all it says is "???". So if you could please help me out with these codes it would be helpful, thanks. Tom.

CL3,
Congratulations on your acquisition. Take care of it, and it will take care of you.
As for the RPO codes, I may have some help.
A90 - Lock control, RR compartment lid, remote electric release;
E7Z No help - may be E72, or some other variant, but all the "E7" codes I have are related to truck bodies. Double check the code. It could also be E9Z - speedometer key delete (for VSS equipped cars like yours);
1AZ No help - may be 1A2 - SEO vehicle, public service. If that's the case on a ThirdGen, there should also probably be a B4C code;
1SZ My decoder also shows a "???";
92P No help - all the "92" codes I have relate to exterior color paint schemes.

I wouldn't get all huffy-puffy if you don't find out what they mean, because some of them don't mean anything. Even when you pull up RPO codes via the VIN through the GM Database, some of the codes are blank.
Your 92P however, signifies gold rims.

1AZ - ORDER MODIFICATION ORDERS SOLD
This means it was a special order vehicle, as opposed to 1AY which was a dealer stock vehicle.
