Newbie needs help...
Hey everybody. Thanks for having me on the board.
I have some questions maybe you guys can answer.
I am looking to buy a 79 Pontiac Grand Am with an 87 Z/28 drivetrain. The car has the TPI 350, 700R4, and 10 bolt with disc brakes all around. It was converted 4 years ago. Owner says it runs "strong".
The problem I'm having is that the motor will cut out, looses power, surges and bucks at anything past half throttle. It also idles at 1500 rpm when warmed up.
The car starts right up and sounds good. I'm sure it's just out of tune somewhere. Do I need a lap top/scantool? I can't find the SES light in this car. What wires from the ECM control the light? I'm sure the light would come on if I could find it. Where do I start!!!!
