Better fuel economy, smoother idles, yatta yatta. Obviously more complicated, though. If you've got a stock 4bbl Rochester carb I'd think of upgrading it to something better. The stock ones that came on thirdgens just left something to be desired. (Like airflow.)

No that 4 bbl q-jet is stock. All carbed v-8 third gens came stock with 4 bbl. The only carbed third gens that came with 2 bbl carbs were of the 4 and 6 cylinder varieties. The stock q-jet CCC isn't that bad and gets okay economy(the real problems with those motors were the crappy heads, cam, and the exhaust system) when all the emissions/computer equipment, as well as the carb itself, are working properly. Problem is when these cars are 14+ years old, you start having all the problems heir to carburetion, along with all the mess of an overly complicated computer/emissions set-up. The problem compounds when a do-it-yourselfer who didn't what the hell he was doing started messing around with the set-up, as someone did with my firebird.

My newest Ride:

'85 Silver L98 Corvette w/4+3 manual tranny. not bad for $3500.

Yeah, that 2bbl wasn't stock, and there would have had to be a 2bbl intake as well.
