Just the outer 3 to remove the pulley, the center one is what holds the dampner to the crank. If you want to remove the whole dampner you will need to either purchase a puller or rent one.

yes,

Same for me:

I tried a lot of home made "ideas". Finally I bought a chinese puller "made in Taiwan" for local CH$ 15,000.00 = US$ 27.00

The best homemade method I can think of would be.
A. Buy a $20 puller or B. Find a parts store with a loner tool program.

well i guess if you've actually done it, the 3 bolts were nothing to take off, i just wrapped a belt around the pulley and yanked on it, and my brother untightened the bolts, but the pulley wouldnt come off, then i came up and read on here, i need to take out the center bolt, i hope its as easy to take off as the other 3.

what about the harmonic balancer, i know the crank pulley will just slide off, but will the harmonic balancer to? i want to install a polished aluminum timing cover also, so i need to take that off.

any ideas, does it know where to sit when i put it back on, as in it only goes on one way? or just mark where the white line is, and make sure its in the exact same spot?

The dampener is pressed on to the crank snout. You'll need a puller to take it off, and an installer to put it back on without damaging the threads. It's keyed so you don't have to worry about putting it on wrong at least.

You'll also need to drop the front of the oil pan or modify your cover to get it on.

If you want to change only the main pulley, you need to remove the outer three bolts AND the center bolt. Then the pulley will simply fall off.

If you want the change the timing cover also, then you will need to remove the harmonic balancer and the water pump.

For the harmonic balancer, I go to AutoZone and borrow a kit which contains the correct adapters for doing that job. Once, you have taken it have, you will need to press it back on.

In removing the water pump, you should drain the coolant from the radiator.

So, in all, this is a bit of work, but very doable. Its a good project. One thing tnat I have learned over the years is that if you are going to do your own work, get good tools, and the right tools.
