crackling sound
Today
When going up a hill with the gas pedal all the way to the floor, the motor was making a constant cracking sound, what might be causing this?
Any ideas?

Engine: A slow one & a fast one
Transmission: A bad one & a good one
Axle/Gears: A weak one & a chained one
Sounds like over-advanced timing, pinging appearing under heavy load. Retard it 1-2 degrees and see if it lessens or disappears.
