camshaft ID casting numbers??

I got a camshaft I pulled from a 305 block id #"S 551.
The cam is a flat tappet hyd. type with the numbers #960 towards the end by the distributor gear with D21 above that and #27 towards the cam sprocket.

what is this cam and how do I( find that out? I have been searching and its getting me nowhere.... please help

thank you very much Ryan

Don't know about 551; but 155 is the last 3 digits of the part # of the roller version of the "peanut cam", as found in TBI and LG4 and some 305 TPI motors.

551 is the last 3 #'s of the engine block casting number and is not on the cam.

I dont know what engine block you have...

551 was the last three digits for 2 305's

first one was a non roller
86-87 2 bolt main

the seond was a roller
1987-1995

I am checking for your camshaft at GM

intake is a tpi. heads I dont know. the engine was probably original to the car 86. I was trying to figure out the cam profile to in fact figure out if I removed the stock 86 cam.

thanks for the help so far...ryan
