Name that component!

Okay, would anyone be able to tell me what this is?

It's found over top of the passenger side valve cover, right behind AC condenser.

What do you mean it's got the wrong connections? Should this be hooked up, because it's been out since I put in new headers and its been okay.

It is the diverter valve asembly that goes to your A.I.R. system. Not needed for performance but required for a visual inspections of emissions equipment..

It's called an "AIR diverter valve" It directs the output of the AIR pump (also called the smog pump) to the catalytic converter and exhaust manifold ports or to the silencer (round black can at end of hose). Looks like someone who was taking off the "smog" stuff got in a hurry and didn't throw it far enough out of the engine compartment .

Yeah, I took it out when I did the headers because I needed the clearance, and it didnt seem that important, and the car ran with no problems. I saw it was hooked up to the AIR system which I got rid of, so I figured I would only need it when inspection comes around anyhow.
