the block will be pretty warped, new heads can be done, but just wont give you a extreamly balenced power in the engine or give as much if the deck was correct, with that many miles i wouldnt do any big projects to it.
I have 180K all me - light duty miles, and am
thinking a junkyard set of 305 heads would be fun to grind on for the exercise. I hoped that the block has survived in good shape. Is there a home test without a engine pull and machine shop?

hey tas, whether you use new heads or your old heads, you'll be in the same, or worse shape.
What I mean is that if the block deck is warped, then most likely your heads won't be flat either when they come off, so you'll end up having them milled flat anyway...same as a new set of heads.
I doubt the block deck would be "warped out of spec" anyways. Just my experience with the few builds/rebuilds I've done.

i'm sure you will be in fine shape. Just when you pull the head place a straight edge on the top and record the differances between the block and straight edge with a feeler guage.

Mine had 143,600 on it when I did the heads. No problems. Miles per se aren't the deciding factor for deck warpage, overheating or improper torquing are. Bigger issue is the condition of the rings and cylinder walls. I could see a faint cross-hatch pattern on my cylinders.
