Best RPM to shift at?

What is the best RPM to shift at during normal driving and racing with 1350000 miles on the car. Im asking this because I still have yet to "drive" my car.

Hey if you are looking at saving gas no higher then 3500rpm.... but if you are racing right to the red line.....

And using a shift light for racing really helps....

hope this helps you....

Man, you're weirdin' me out - over a million miles on the car and you haven't "driven" it yet, and the picture you posted was taken January 22, 2002!

Okay, a straight answer:
For "normal" driving, shift it without winding it beyond where there is any real increase in acceleration but not so soon that it lugs in the next higher gear.
For racing, I'll refer to my dad's advice on how tight a bolt should be - "1/4 turn before it breaks". In other words, shift it where it peaks on power, kind of a trial & error thing to get the feel of it, but again doesn't bog in the next higher gear. Shifting any later than where the power peaks is like breaking the bolt.

I would shift until the car feels like it's losing power. I was told once to shift to where you're 500rpms below peak torque or HP forget which on the next shift.

I noticed that too. Puts all those damn Toyota truck magazine ads to shame (you know, the ones you used to see all the time).
